Some progress, and some new material needed

Updated: Mar 3, 2022

Learned something today

I've made som progress on this little leopard cub, but there is a lot of work left to do. The nose and mouth have got their first layers, and I have started working down the neck. Nothing is completely finished though. There are more layers left to do on the whole, and I want him to have a slightly warmer tone.

But what I have realised is that I am working on the wrong surface. I am using linen with a medium grain, which makes it a bit challenging with the level of detail I want to achieve. The painting is also faily small (30 x 40 cm) which doesn't make it any easier. So today I will buy some new material - linen with extra fine grain and a wood panel.

Some professional art material is very hard to find in Sweden, like the Pastelmat paper I use for pastel drawings and have to order from Jackson's Art in England. Luckily I found one place in Stockholm that sell both linen with extra fine grain and some birch panels. The range of sizes on the panels is not super big, but good enough to start with. The linen is not streched though, it's sold per meter. Don't know how to solve that one yet :)
